Front Sight trip report update

Last year I attended an excellent rifle course offered by Front Sight and had a great time. Based on my experience there I was looking forward to attended a more advanced rifle course offered by Front Sight this spring.

Between that time and now, Front Sight has increased their requirements for attendance in the course that I hoping to take this spring: I have to retake their basic defensive pistol course and graduate with distinction, then take an advanced tactical handgun course. Only then can I register for the advanced rifle course I had planned on taking this spring.

Two more trips to Nevada, one to retake a course that’s for beginners.

To say I feel like a victim of bait and switch is to put it lightly.

I’m embarrassed for the gun community.

Seems like the only shows that’ll make it to the air are “reality” shows like Sons of Guns, what with their FFL issues splayed all over the Internets. But really, I pulled my season pass from the DVR once they came up with this… this… I don’t know what this is. It’s a spinning shotgun hootenanny thingamajig that I think Will and Steph were planning on sending “over to the sandbox to help our boys” or something. Seriously, WTF? Maybe we can all coalesce around a good season or two of Top Shot instead?

I love my iPhone, I hate AT&T with a passion

I used to be a Verizon customer – a very satisfied one as my calls would never drop. I ditched them for a device I love just like many have done. Some people claim that AT&T’s network has suffered because of users like me are taking up all the bandwidth or something. Whatever: you get exclusive access to the hottest piece of hardware out there, make sure your network can handle it or you’re going to lose customers, as I will be looking to do in 2011 when my current 2 years are up and when Droid matures even more. But in the meantime, AT&T? The truth hurts:

AT&T did not file this lawsuit because Verizon’s “There’s A Map For That” advertisements are untrue; AT&T sued because Verizon’s ads are true and the truth hurts.

Smart move, AT&T: all of your customers know your coverage sucks. Your iPhone customers are dissatisfied with your service and would jump ship in a heartbeat. Maybe you have the “Nation’s Fastest 3G Network” but it’s only in the relatively rare cases where my phone can find it. Good move on a lawsuit as a response to something we all know is the truth.

I honestly thought I had gotten past having to actually check the number of bars my phone was getting when I was with Verizon. Not so now that I’ve switched to an inferior network. AT&T? You suck.

iPhone application ratings are useless

Ever look at some of the reviews of iPhone apps? Ever actually read the idiocy that people think is okay to put up there?

Get a new system of ratings, or at least moderate the most stupid ones, Apple.
